What has genre done for your life?

I must say that in my learning experiences about genre and how genre has an immediate affect on the audience which it is targeted,  genre has inspired me to become much more creative. I am inspired by the knowledge of genre and how wonderful it is to remain yourself and be comfortable in the genres of your choice. I now feel that because of genre I now have a voice that shall be heard loud and clearly. I was once the type of person that would normally follow the genres of others because if their negative opinion of the genres that I find interesting. For example, I like all types of genres of music. I love classical, rock, alternative, jazz and Christian/gospel music, but a lot of my peers frowned upon my taste in music. I must be honest though, I really was afraid of being different from my peers, but because of my studying of genre and the history of its origin I feel better about being different. As a matter of fact I would scream to the world that I am different because I learned about genre and I am comfortable being different in my genres of music. I don’t mind getting teased by my friends because I listen to “How you remind me” by Nickelback or “I don’t want to miss a thing” by Aerosmith.

I am proud to say that I also like Jason Aldean the country singer, Skylar Grey, and my all-time favorite “We are the champions” by Queen. Genre has taught me confidence in who I am. Genre has inspired me to continue to be me and to like what I like around anyone, and if there is a problem, genre has also taught me that’s its okay to stand out, to look different, to be different, to sing different, to speak differently and to love what I am and also what I like. I would say that because of this enlightenment in my life I owe genre a lot of credit for the knowledge that I have acquired since the element of genre has entered into my life in more ways than one. My life is different now because of genre. I can't believe that I have wasted so much time trying to conform to the aspects of life that are liked by the majority. I feel silly even saying that out loud, but I an truly grateful to have encountered this newly found aspect of life that has it's impact on almost everything, well at least everything that entertains people in the world and allows people to be, remain and maintain their preferred genre.
